Conservation of Mass Lab

We did two labs to test the Law of Conservation of Mass. First we witnessed a chemical reaction where a yellow precipitate and transparent filtrate was produced, and we measured the mass of the reactants and the mass of the products. We found that mass was conserved which supports the Law of Conservation of Mass. Then we did a second experiment to see if mass was conserved in a chemical reaction when a gas was produced. After witnessing the chemical reaction and measuring the mass of the reactants and the mass of the products we found that mass was still conserved. We also found the mass of the gas which was produced in the chemical reaction to see if gas has mass. We found that gas has very little mass, but it's still there. Our results of both labs can be supported by the Law of Conservation of Mass which states that mass can neither be created nor destroyed. This relates to other labs we have done because they deal with conservation. We tested the Law of Conservation of Energy with cars and a ramp. We measured the potential energy and the kinetic energy of the car and found that energy was conserved.
